Background: http://disgaea.wikia.com/wiki/Etna
Personality: Truly, when it comes to demons, Etna is a prime example of what sets their kind apart from humans. Demons are selfish, violent, carefree, disrespectful, and conniving. They are also incredibly long lived, and at 1400 or so years old Etna’s seen plenty of the world to not bother herself with small things. Yet, despite all that there are times where she has an actual conscious, though she would never admit to doing something for someone else.
Etna as a child was like many of her peers in the Netherworld, she was weak and looked up to people who were strong. She cared for innocent animals though, even though she knew it was strange for a Demon to do. She found a like soul in King Krichevskoy, who helped her bury a dog that had been killed because Etna told it to steal food if it was hungry. She learned his dream was to make the Netherworld a better place for everyone, and she took it to heart.
Well, mostly to heart. Inside, she might wish for things to be better, but it’s also a pain to go against your nature. Which is why Etna might do horrible things but when it comes down to it she does believe in King Krichevskoy and his ideals. Eventually she becomes “loyal” to his son Laharl, after the boy proves to her that he has the ability to lead. Only after being a constant thorn in his side of course.
In a sidestory, where Etna killed Laharl and became the Overlord herself, we see that she has intense regret in her heart, a feeling she can’t understand. Laharl, as King Krichevskoy’s son, is someone she feels like could have become something greater, but she killed him on accident. It takes her a while to understand the regret, only thanks to King Krichevskoy’s reincarnation Vyers does she figure out what this strange feeling was inside of her. In the end of that timeline, she decides to do her best to be a positive Overlord, all for Laharl’s sake.
While King Krichevskoy’s dream might be what Etna wishes deep down for, she doesn’t often exemplify those ideals. Being hypocritical is all part of being a Demon anyway, or so she’d probably explain. She hides her sentimental, sensitive side as much as possible, keeping a secret diary behind a hidden door in Laharl’s base, where she writes down her thoughts where she thinks no one where ever see them.
With a sharp tongue and a lazy attitude, Etna makes pretty much the worst vassal under Laharl. She tells him “good luck with that” when he announces a plan to go into battle. She constnatly undermines his authority, putting in the most barest of effort. When asked to do any work she explains that it’s too much of a pain to do, and will refuse or just push it on her Prinny Squad.
As a leader herself she’s pretty much the worst too. The only respect she ever gave anyone in her long life was to King Krichevskoy, but to her subordinates she’s truly awful. The Prinnies that work under Etna constantly complain about the horrid working conditions such as not being paid and having to work 20 hour days. And when they make even simple mistakes Etna laws down the law unafraid to use violence to make her point.
Even though Etna is feared for being a horrible Demon, it only makes her happier. She is a Demon after all. It’s her excuse for all of her bad qualities, only framing them as positive qualities that she should be praised for. Betraying people, killing anyone who bothers her, lying, stealing and cheating. They are things that Etna has no qualms about doing, and will often openly admit to doing it.
An incredibly selfish person, Etna hates when people take her things. When someone takes the last rare pudding, and then a pair of her panties, she sends out all of her Prinnies out to find the culprit under the threat of death. There’s no such a thing as an abuse of power to her. As the world runs on money too, she won’t do anything unless it’s for an exorbitant amount, or she actually believes in the person she’s following. Even asking her to do a simple task will likely be met with a “Pay me one million HL and I’ll think about it.”
Being serious is something that you rarely ever see with Etna. She likes playing around, making jokes, playing pranks, and otherwise living a carefree life. Long lived as she is, there’s no sense of urgency in anything she does, like how she loves to come up with new silly ideas for new shows involving herself as the main character at the end of every “episode” in the games. There’s only been a few times when she is serious is to herself under, either alone or in her diary.
Wish: “I guess I wish I could see King Krichevskoy’s dream come true. Just don’t tell anyone I said that.”
The only person Etna truly ever looked up to was King Krichevskoy. Even if she follows his son Laharl now, she doesn’t quite have the same respect for him. King Krichevskoy was taken away from her too early, she she misses being his vassal, listening to his strange thoughts of unifying Celestia and the Netherworld, of making a world where everyone can live as equals.
if she could have one wish, it would be to make King Krichevskoy’s dream come true. As a Demon she thinks it’s silly that angels and Demons could live together in harmony but at the same time, if that’s what he wants, then so does she.
Passive ability: As her wish was the ability to see someone who no longer lives, her passive would be that she is sometimes able to see into people’s pasts a short amount of time. It’s not something she can control, and it only shows brief glimpses that she has to decipher. Sometimes she can’t even recognizes people at all, depending on how recent the memory is she can likely see a little more clearly.
Of course, she would have to actually be close to someone for it to activate. The memories she sees would be controlled by others though, whether subconsciously or not. Hiding feelings inside with a strong emotion of “I don’t want anyone to know this” would be impossible to see, opposed to something like “I wish I could tell someone this..” would be more likely.
Active ability: Given that her wish was for unifying two separate worlds, Etna’s active ability would be to summon Prinnies. They are the souls of humans who lived worthless lives and are forced to work in Celestia, the Netherworld, Makai, and almost every other world in the multiverse. And of course, when they are thrown they explode in various different ways.
It would cost only a small amount of mana to make one and throw it, seeing how it’s a one use item, but at higher mana usage she would be able to maintain a small group of them to fight with her, using their knives and combo attacks. But in the end they are still low tier combatants, and would often just be used to soak up damage for Etna.
Weapon: A spear, as she is already highly proficient in it’s use.
